The Scan for Safety suite

Inventory Management System

Point of Care Scanning

Medical Devices Data Hub

Data and Analytics

The Inventory Management System completed its national roll out to 15 NHSScotland health boards in April 2023. The system – powered by Genesis Inventory – captures and records product data from across the supply chain.

The Scan for Safety Point of Care (powered by Genesis Point of Care) captures data via barcodes located across a variety of touch points during a patient procedure – product, patient, place, practitioners.

It is currently rolling out to several boards and departments across NHSScotland.

The Medical Devices Data Hub (MDDH) will link key clinical patient data, to information around the medical devices used in their care. This will enable rapid national traceability of patients who have received specific devices, as well as provide a timely electronic record for patients about devices used during their procedure.

MDDH will launch in 2025, and will be available to any boards who have implemented Point of Care.

Scan for Safety’s Data and Analytics will be developed later in 2025 and will enhance value, patient safety, and improvement opportunities for boards by pulling medical device and equipment data from a range of sources.

Data and Analytics will help enable and grow knowledge around patient outcomes linked to medical devices.

How it works:

Scan for Safety collects implantable medical device data and links it to individual patients using barcode scanning technology, across all touch points of an operative procedure – product, practitioner, patient, place.

Scan for Safety will automate traditional manual processes; streamlining ways of working to release time, improving efficiencies, and enabling valuable ‘real-time; quality-driven data.

Altogether, Scan for Safety can enable a range of benefits that can improve experiences for all involved – patients, workforce, and boards.

Adding value where it matters most
