Over 200 medical device suppliers have now engaged with the NHS Scan for Safety programme by completing their online questionnaire. The questionnaire aims to gather a full overview on the status of the combined NHS Scotland medical device supply chain, in adopting GS1 coding standards.

A full list of all engaged suppliers is published on Scotland’s Scan for Safety website. Frankie Wallace, Supplier Engagement Lead from the programme explains more. “The adoption of GS1 standards by all medical device suppliers to NHS Scotland is integral to the successful roll out of the programme, and for suppliers, the NHS, and its patients, in order to fully realise the benefits this programme offers.”

She continues. “From reducing wastage across the supply chain, to increasing clinical time for patients, as well as enabling real-time traceability that assists in product safety alerts, the Scan for Safety programme will play a key role in transforming operations and improving patient safety across NHS Scotland.”

All medical device suppliers to NHS Scotland were encouraged to take part in the Scan for Safety questionnaire. The questionnaire closed April 2023. A full list of all current engaged suppliers can be found here.
