Work is progressing with the implementation of a National Medical Equipment Management System.

A key element of the work is to ensure that all Health Boards are using a system to manage medical equipment, system data and supporting operational processes.

Ten Health Boards were already using eQuip and on-going work will see the final four Health Boards adopt this system by the end of March 2023.

With all 15 Health Boards on one of two systems for managing medical equipment there will be greater visibility over the inventory of medical equipment and the readiness for future pandemics.

A new centralised strategic reporting framework is also being developed and implemented. This will link into data with quicker access and allow for longer term planning to be realised, as well as creating opportunity for efficiencies and savings to be made across NHS Scotland.
